Dear Mister Vrljičak,

 

It is with great satisfaction that I just received the special issue of Studia Croatica devoted to the great patriot and moralist Marko Marulić. I hurry to thank you and tell you about the great pleasure that it is for me to have before me a publication which proves once more in a conclusive manner that Croatia is not in the border of Europe. Rather -on the contrary- she is one of the essential elements of our culture and common civilization.

 

Excuse me for writing in French, but don't have anybody near to take dictation in Spanish. Besides I am happily overwhelmed by work and, consequently, I have to use a language more current for me and which is also very useful. As a child, I spoke Croatian well, but many years have passed since so that, regretfully, nowadays I hesitate to write in Croatian.

 

While wishing a great success for your publication, which is going to be very useful for the Croatian cause, I beg you to accept, Mister General Director Vrljičak, the expression of my distinguished and best sentiments.
